West Singapore Awarded at AmCham CARES For Corporate and Societal Excellence
We are pleased to share that West has received the Distinction Award of the AmCham Singapore CARES initiative, which is a further testament to West’s continued commitment as a good corporate citizen and our contributions on making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Our Singapore team has a long tradition of community involvement. During the past 12 years, West without Borders, our employee-led giving program, has kept making a positive impact in the communities through financial support and volunteerism. Throughout the pandemic, West Singapore has contributed to a variety of meaningful social causes such as Children’s Cancer Foundation, Food from the Heart and Singapore Food Bank, standing by the side of communities to combat the consequences of the virus and demonstrating a commitment to helping build a healthier world. The spirit of philanthropy and giving back to the community are consistent with West’s desire for continued progress on our commitment to building a sustainable business for the future.
Stewart Campbell, Vice President & General Manager, Emerging Markets – AP & SAR, received the award on behalf of West and delivered opening remarks at the AmCham Singapore’s Annual General Meeting. He shared, “At West, we take corporate responsibility very seriously and our teams are focused on making a positive impact on the communities where we live and work, and with the customers we serve. Our Singapore team is a key part of our global manufacturing network, contributing to over 45 billion components and devices delivered by West each year to support our customers and patients. The team also has a long tradition of community involvement, and I am truly heartened to lead an organization with such a heart.”
AmCham Singapore CARES is a platform to benchmark and share best practices, as well as encourage member companies to improve their current corporate social responsibility programs. It requires companies to meet certain criteria with their pre-existing CSR programs, assessed on four main factors including communications, measurement, strategy, and sustainability.

We are happy to announce that West received the 2015 India Pharma Award for Outstanding Primary Packaging for Injectables for our high-quality NovaPure® components. The award was presented to West during the CPhI India Pre-Connect Congress.

Pharmaceutical closures used in aseptic environments must be introduced in a sterile state. The most common methods to sterilize rubber closures (e.g., stoppers) are autoclaving (saturated steam) and gamma irradiation. Both methods can influence chemical (e.g., extractables profile) and physical/functional properties (e.g., break-loose and extrusion forces). Therefore, it is important to choose the right method.
West is pleased to announce that the AccelTRA™ component program has been recognized with a 2018 India Packaging Award in the category of “Packaging Design in Injectables.” The award was announced during a ceremony at the 2018 InnoPack Pharma Confex in Mumbai, India on May 24, 2018.
In determining extractables from parenteral drug packaging systems, the FDA is clearly looking for appropriate choices of solvents, times, temperatures and other conditions that could impact the results of studies. The outcome of the studies should support the intended purpose – to allow for practical correlations and design of leachables studies.
