In the final installment of our blog series on corporate responsibility, we are focusing on quality. This topic is at the forefront of all we do at West. After all, we are ultimately in business to serve the patients who use our products – and those patients are counting on us to deliver those products with the highest level of quality possible. We will not compromise on our commitment to quality. <br />
Since its inception in 2011, the <a href="http://www.dasd.org/STEM"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Downingtown Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy</span></a> has quickly earned the ranking as the number one high school in the state of Pennsylvania. With the STEM Academy located in the same district as West’s corporate headquarters, and a strong corporate culture of giving back to the community, a partnership between the two organizations was a natural fit.
Drug delivery via cartridge-based systems has been around for many years, with traditional applications being for the dental and insulin markets. These traditional markets will continue to maintain much of the volume for cartridge-based systems in the future; however, there is an increasing trend toward other therapeutic classes of drugs, such as those that treat auto-immune diseases, that never used cartridges before. This trend, along with the projected growth in the insulin market, indicates substantial overall growth in the cartridge space over the next several years. This Blog discusses the issues driving these trends and the West product portfolio in the cartridge market.
West’s Kinston, NC facility was recently recognized with an Honorable Mention at the 2016 International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) Facility of the Year Awards’ ceremony on June 7, 2016, in Bethesda, Maryland. The award acknowledged the West team’s creativity and innovation during the Ready-to-Sterilize (RS) Expansion project, which was completed in June 2015.
