Why is voting so important?

If you don’t vote, you are giving the others who are voting the power to make decisions for your paycheck and your life at work.

It’s important to note that, under federal law, union elections are decided by the majority of votes that are actually cast…not by the majority of employees at a site.

For example, there are around 360 people in West Grand Rapids who are eligible to vote. If only 50 vote, and out of that number only 26 vote for the union, then all 360 people will be represented by the union.

  • We believe that voting No is best for our team members.
  • We respect the union-organizing process, but we believe the best path forward for our Grand Rapids team members is one where we are directly communicating and working collaboratively to ensure we have a strong future together.
  • We are strongly encouraging our team members to vote in the election and hope that they will choose to vote No.

Best with West

We encourage all our team members to educate yourself on unions, ask questions to your supervisors and other members of Grand Rapids leadership.

Don’t let others make decisions for you…get out and vote during the scheduled voting times.
