Recently, the generics pharmaceutical industry in the United States has seen the average time to market decrease significantly as approvals have steadily increased thanks to the introduction of the Generic Drug User Fee Amendments (GDUFA) in October 2012. The reduction in time has led pharmaceutical companies to seek out high-quality elastomer products that provide the regulatory simplicity necessary to bring their products to market quickly, helping to increase a company’s competitiveness and their drug product’s overall sales. An extraction study is sometimes thought of by customers as an expensive and time-consuming exercise for filing. However, extractables studies are more than that. Performing an extraction study provides a thorough understanding of the materials used. It is a study that takes into account the primary packaging components and provides an understanding of the chemical species that may potentially come out over the shelf-life of a product.
Lyophilization is widely used for pharmaceuticals to help preserve parenteral drugs that are unstable in liquid formulation, particularly biologics. Lyophilized drugs have many advantages like prolonged shelf life, easy dissolution and good stability. However, a suitable container closure system is necessary to ensure the successful lyophilization of pharmaceutical products while maintaining product quality.
Recently, interns of West’s global headquarters in Exton, Pennsylvania, hosted a Final Showcase Event where they highlighted various elements of their overall internship experience. The showcase, which included each intern creating a poster to highlight and present their experience, served as a final opportunity for the interns to continue to network with other members of the West team as they finished the ninth week of the ten-week West Ambassador Internship Program.
In March, West presented the Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital with a donation at the opening of West Digital Technology Center (DTC) in Bengaluru, India. These funds will support patients who need financial assistance and who would otherwise not be able to afford their cancer treatment.
