Global West without Borders Campaigns Help Fight Diabetes
In 2017, West employees have worked diligently to help the communities in which we live and work. Through West without Borders, West's employee-led giving program, employees have raised more than $3 million for a variety of charities around the world.
The program focuses on four key areas:
- Healthcare
- Education, with a focus on STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Math
- Children
- The disabled
In 2017, West facilities in Exton, PA and Horsens, Denmark took on the challenge of fundraising for organizations that support diabetes research. These campaigns reinforced West’s commitment to fighting diabetes, and providing injectable drug administration and delivery solutions for diabetes patients.
In Exton, employees had the opportunity to participate in a West without Borders campaign that supported the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The organization leads global efforts to fund type 1 diabetes research. Highlights of the campaign included a learning session for employees on diabetes, hemoglobin H1C level testing and multiple fundraising events benefiting the JDRF.
In Horsens, employees contributed to diabetes research by fundraising for the Danish Diabetes Association, which has supported diabetes patients since 1940 and is one of the largest associations of patients in Denmark. Our team in Horsens collected DKK 14.427,50 through events such as an auction and a BBQ led by Jan Loekken, Director, Operations.
These diabetes campaigns are just a small part of the charitable work that West employees perform each year. Community involvement and generosity with time and resources is a cornerstone of West’s identity. Our culture of giving, strengthened by programs like West without Borders, helps us to achieve our mission of creating a healthier world.
