West Singapore Awarded at AmCham CARES For Corporate and Societal Excellence
We are pleased to share that West has received the Distinction Award of the AmCham Singapore CARES initiative, which is a further testament to West’s continued commitment as a good corporate citizen and our contributions on making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Our Singapore team has a long tradition of community involvement. During the past 12 years, West without Borders, our employee-led giving program, has kept making a positive impact in the communities through financial support and volunteerism. Throughout the pandemic, West Singapore has contributed to a variety of meaningful social causes such as Children’s Cancer Foundation, Food from the Heart and Singapore Food Bank, standing by the side of communities to combat the consequences of the virus and demonstrating a commitment to helping build a healthier world. The spirit of philanthropy and giving back to the community are consistent with West’s desire for continued progress on our commitment to building a sustainable business for the future.
Stewart Campbell, Vice President & General Manager, Emerging Markets – AP & SAR, received the award on behalf of West and delivered opening remarks at the AmCham Singapore’s Annual General Meeting. He shared, “At West, we take corporate responsibility very seriously and our teams are focused on making a positive impact on the communities where we live and work, and with the customers we serve. Our Singapore team is a key part of our global manufacturing network, contributing to over 45 billion components and devices delivered by West each year to support our customers and patients. The team also has a long tradition of community involvement, and I am truly heartened to lead an organization with such a heart.”
AmCham Singapore CARES is a platform to benchmark and share best practices, as well as encourage member companies to improve their current corporate social responsibility programs. It requires companies to meet certain criteria with their pre-existing CSR programs, assessed on four main factors including communications, measurement, strategy, and sustainability.

West is committed to the safe and efficient delivery of drug products to patients. Key to this is not only staying abreast of industry developments, but also being prepared to help customers address them. This is a focus of the Integrated Solutions platform.
In the prefilled syringe system, the plunger is in contact with the drug product during administration and the drug storage period, which may last up to two years and can affect the long-term stability of the drug product.<br />
The development of new biosimilar products has increased over the past several years. Europe and Asia Pacific have been leading the industry with the greatest number of biosimilars being introduced to the market. Given the demand to reduce medical costs for patients, this trend is expected to increase globally in the coming years.
One of the many unique opportunities West offers employees is the ability to participate in a short-term assignment program, known as ROADMAP (Rotational Opportunity Assignment Development Mobility Action Plan). Developed in 2015, ROADMAP provides employees with the opportunity to work at a different West facility for an extended period of time. The ROADMAP program is designed to encourage job sharing, job rotation, special projects, knowledge transfer and start-up opportunities to support the organization to further build global network and culture within West.
