West and the University of the Sciences Celebrate 20 years of Partnership
Recently, members of West and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA celebrated the 20th anniversary of the West Center for Computational Chemistry and Drug Design.
The West Center for Computational Chemistry and Drug Design at the University of the Sciences is focused on the application of computational methods to chemical and biological problems, as well as on the development of more powerful computational tools to improve the ability of these methods to produce real world answers.
Over the past 20 years, the Center has educated over 100 undergraduate and graduate students, some of whom currently work at West, and enabled the development of a number of new computational methodologies that resulted in design of new drugs, therapeutics and novel materials in response to societal and health needs.
“We are proud of the partnership we’ve had throughout the years and are excited to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the West Center,” said Quintin Lai, VP of Corporate Development and Strategic Investor Relations. “The West Center’s continued work developing powerful computational tools and methods that address chemical and biological problems to produce real world answers, is helping our industry to speed advances that will improve healthcare for millions of patients.”
In addition to the funds that have helped to support the West Center, West was proud to celebrate this milestone by providing the university with an additional $25,000 grant this year to support the exciting STEM programs at the University of the Sciences, as well as two scholarships for students working at the West Center.
Because we share the passion to improve healthcare and the sciences, West is committed to continue supporting educational institutions like the University of the Sciences now and into the future.
